On April 29, 2020, Blankenship signed with an American professional football team named “the Indianapolis Colts.”
Jacksonville Jaguars were the opponent in his debut game with the Indianapolis Colts. During the 2020 season, while playing against Green Bay Packers, earning the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week award, as he kicked a 39-yard long field goal leading the team to be a winner.

Until the 2021 season, he played a total of five games as a team member of the Colts. However, he battled a hip injury during the season and was placed on injured reserve by the team on October 16, 2021.
